Smart Cleaner for Android gets a major overhaul with onboarding, shimmer UI, and PDF previews

Smart Cleaner for Android (formerly Cleaner) has just received its biggest update yet, introducing a fresh onboarding experience, visual upgrades, and new features aimed at improving both usability and performance. The update continues the app’s evolution into a modern, polished tool for cleaning up your phone and managing memory.



A new onboarding experience and permissions flow

With version 3.3.0, new users are now welcomed with a step-by-step guide that explains what the app does, why certain permissions are needed, and how to make the most of its features. The storage permission screen has also been redesigned to feel more informative and less technical, helping users grant access with confidence.

Visual and performance improvements

The app now uses soft shimmer animations to show that it’s loading memory and file details in real time. It makes the experience feel smoother and more responsive, especially on slower phones.

PDF files now show preview thumbnails in the Analyze screen, making it easier to identify what you’re about to clean. Alongside this, the app introduces playful animations during the cleaning process and when confirming deletions, bringing a more dynamic feel to key interactions.

Expanded localization and smarter formatting

Smart Cleaner now supports even more users around the world, with added translations for Bulgarian, German, French, and Spanish (Equatorial Guinea). This update also includes small details like more precise storage size formatting and clearer stats on how much space has been cleaned — changes that help the app feel more polished throughout.

AppToolkit integration and layout refresh

Behind the scenes, the app’s entire layout structure has been rebuilt using the developer’s custom AppToolkit — a shared UI system also used across other apps. While invisible to users, this switch allows for better design consistency and faster screen loading, with smooth transitions and fewer visual glitches.
